My Life as a Commuter

When I first decided that I was going to commute to SNHU, I thought I would just be attending my classes, and then going home. I was wrong.  I didn’t want to leave as soon as I stepped on the SNHU campus. I wanted to get involved in on-campus extracurriculars in order to meet people. I joined a sorority which has allowed me to meet a lot of new people.; however, it has been a great commitment for me to commute to all the events.

If I were to recommend joining extracurriculars to someone who was also commuting, I would tell them to be prepared for a lot of back and forth driving from school to home. It is so worth it to join extracurriculars because it allows for you to meet really great friends and make deeper connections then in the classroom. I would also tell them if they do not enjoy driving to live on campus and not commute.

The commuting from school to home has been a lot for me and because of that, I have decided to move onto campus next semester. I am really excited to move on campus as I feel I will become more involved. Living on campus will be significantly different than commuting, but I am really excited to be able to have both of these experiences. I hope living on campus will allow me to be more involved in my sorority and allow me to play a larger part in the events we put on. Campus life will also allow me to join other clubs and extracurriculars and explore more hobbies and interests.
